We’re excited to share that IV sedation will soon be available at Simpli Dental Calgary — making extensive dental procedures more comfortable and accessible for our patients.

Whether you're feeling anxious about an upcoming appointment or facing a longer, more complex procedure like wisdom teeth removal, dental implants, or gum grafting, IV sedation can help you feel calm, relaxed, and completely at ease during your treatment.

Here’s what to expect with this new offering:

what is IV sedation?

Intravenous (IV) sedation is a safe and effective option for patients who are nervous about dental visits or require more time in the chair. Administered through a vein, this type of sedation helps patients feel deeply relaxed — many even doze off or have little memory of the procedure afterward.

who is eligible?

To ensure a safe experience, our IV sedation provider will initially treat:

  • ASA I and II patients (generally healthy or with mild systemic conditions)

  • Patients with a BMI under 35

  • Patients 15 years of age or older

Each patient will complete a detailed medical questionnaire, which must be submitted at least one week prior to their appointment. A responsible adult must accompany the patient and stay at the clinic for the full duration of the visit.

what does it cost?

The IV sedation fee for 2025 is $800 per patient, regardless of the length of the procedure. Additional clinic-related fees may apply and will be communicated in advance.

pre-operative instructions

To prepare safely for IV sedation:

  • No solid food for at least 6 hours before your appointment

  • Clear fluids only up to 2 hours before treatment

A complete patient instruction sheet and medical questionnaire will be provided to help you get ready.

a team approach

Each IV sedation appointment will include two dental assistants:

  1. A general chair-side assistant

  2. A sedation-trained assistant to monitor vitals and chart throughout the procedure

why consider IV sedation?

Many patients find that IV sedation:

  • Makes complex procedures feel quicker and easier

  • Reduces dental anxiety and fear

  • Leads to better overall outcomes and case acceptance

We believe it’s a great option for anyone facing dental surgery or who has been putting off care due to nerves.

If you have any questions or think IV sedation might be right for your next appointment, don’t hesitate to ask our team. We’re here to help make your dental experience as comfortable and stress-free as possible.
